Modill deserves props. Their debut Midnight Green is one of my favorite records ever for its self-conscious lyrics, and cannabis-induced atmosphere. The self-titled successor which you see here is an idiosyncratic LP that paints an abstract portrait of MC RacecaR. From start to finish, monsieur Domina brings you into his world where's he's constantly shifting between optimism, and self-doubt. Behind the lyrics K-Kruz produces a palette of experimental soul. It's more understated than the loud boom-bap on Midnight Green, and I think it really suits the change in style. This is one of the best albums of 09, don't miss out.

Midnight Green received stellar reviews on OKAYPLAYER, GRIDFACE.COM, ACCESSHIPHOP, RAPREVIEWS, XLR8R, amongst others. GHETTOBLASTER also gave Modill a two page article as well. Outtakes and C-Sides(2006) was released digitally via I-Tunes prior to 2009's Modill also available via I-Tunes (both receiving numbers of great reviews on I-Tunes). "Lot A" from their newest release received special attention being included on regular rotation thanks to INDIFEED Hip-Hop (Dirt E. Dutch's excellent Hip-Hop podcast is available for free download on I-Tunes). RacecaR is also currently on the DOWN THE ROAD TOUR 2010 with Fat Beats Record's PSEUDOSLANG in support of the album.
